Job of the Year (BE16 or VR1)

The heavy and abnormal load industry accounts for a plethora of outstanding work, requiring a high degree of expertise to transport loads of all shapes, sizes and budgets, but equally they are just as important as each other. Every movement within this niche industry presents its own complexities, please explain what makes your job stand out from the rest?

Please note this is specifically for Special Order movements – BE16 or VR1.

Pilot Car/Escort Operator of the Year

This coveted award will be presented to the company and or individual pilot car / escort operator who has consistently performed efficiently and effectively, and has evidence of their abilities in escorting a challenging or load movement. The ability to demonstrate their special problem-solving approach to a project will be advantageous.

Your entry may focus on a series of projects (maximum of three), demonstrating the complexities of differing challenges and the techniques used, and it must have taken place in the UK.

Project of the Year

Entries must demonstrate that the project was remarkable in one or more of the following areas: (a) scale, complexity and ambition, (b) technical innovation or problem solving, (c) completed within time and budget. Appropriate figures and statistics must be included. For large scale projects consisting of a number of phases, entries may be submitted at the end of an individual phase as well as on completion of the whole project.

Employee/Team of the Year

This Award will be presented to the Employee/Team working within an organisation who has demonstrated high levels of performance from a co-ordinated team approach within their field.

As an example, your submission may include the delivery of a major project, both on time and to budget, or an individual/team that has consistently over-achieved. 

Environmental Initiative of the Year

This award is for companies, however large or small, for which sustainability is a top management priority, and where it forms a central part of the corporate agenda and company culture. Sustainability is defined as the continued assessment of impact on the local environment, a commitment to low carbon inputs and outcomes, the use and re-use of resources and adherence to regulation.

You should be able to demonstrate that a direct result of your firm’s sustainable culture, have been tangible benefits at a local, regional or national level.

Most Significant Safety Initiative

The heavy and abnormal load industry relies on the upmost safety, care and attention to detail. As an industry, we constantly strive for new ways to improve our safety credentials, please use this opportunity to highlight specific products or initiatives that can demonstrate a tangible contribution to improving safety.

Operator of the Year

This is the most coveted award for operators within the heavy and abnormal load industry. The award will be presented to the operator who has shown tremendous all-round commitment to; professionalism, innovation, initiative, environment, safety, training and customer care.

Innovation of the Year - Vehicle Manufacturer

This award is open to the Vehicle Manufacturer who can show outstanding innovation in a service or operation. Your innovation could be the development of a new product, innovative application of an existing product, the development of new technology, or the innovative application of existing technology.

Innovation of the Year – End User

This award is open to the heavy and abnormal load operators and product / service suppliers who can show outstanding innovation in a service or operation. Your innovation could be the development of a new product, innovative application of an existing product, the development of new technology, or the innovative application of existing technology.

Innovation of the Year - Trailer Manufacturer (medium weight 3-5 axles)

This award is open to the Trailer Manufacturer who can show outstanding innovation in a service or operation. Your innovation could be the development of a new product, innovative application of an existing product, the development of new technology, or the innovative application of existing technology. This category is available to all manufacturers of 3-5 axle trailers.

Innovation of the Year - Trailer Manufacturer (heavyweight 5+ axles)

This award is open to the Trailer Manufacturer who can show outstanding innovation in a service or operation. Your innovation could be the development of a new product, innovative application of an existing product, the development of new technology, or the innovative application of existing technology. This category is available to all manufacturers of 5+ axle configurations.

The Earl Attlee Award - Work in the Community

The Earl Attlee Award will go to a business displaying significant activity in a minimum of three of the following areas: Environment, Engagement, Community, Charity, Life Cycle, Governance.
